About AfterTheSplit.org
AfterTheSplit.org is a directory of 3,798 therapists in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Every one of them lists divorce and separation among their areas of focus.
Who it is for
It is for people going through a divorce, a separation or the end of a long relationship, whether it happened last week or several years ago. That includes people who are co-parenting, people rebuilding their confidence, and anyone who simply wants to look up a therapist they have heard of.
You do not need a referral, a diagnosis or a crisis before you read a profile.
Which therapists are listed
The directory currently lists 2,951 therapists in the United States, 747 in the United Kingdom and 100 in Australia. Each one lists divorce and separation among their focus areas. Most also work with many other concerns, such as stress, low mood, parenting, family and self-esteem, and each profile shows all of them.
Listing a focus area is not, by itself, evidence of specialist training. If that matters to you, ask the therapist about it.
We do not take sides
This site does not judge who ended a relationship or why. No therapist can promise that a relationship will be saved, or that a separation will go a particular way. Therapy can help you think those questions through for yourself.
Therapy is not legal or financial advice
Online talk therapy is not legal, financial or custody advice. For questions about divorce proceedings, money or arrangements for children, speak to a lawyer, a mediator or a financial adviser. A therapist can help you cope with the process alongside them.
If you are not safe
If you are in danger, or someone is hurting, threatening or controlling you, contact emergency services or a domestic-abuse helpline. In the US call 911 in an emergency, or call or text 988; in the UK call 999 in an emergency, or Samaritans on 116 123; in Australia call 000 in an emergency, or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
We are independent
This site is not part of, endorsed by or connected with any health service, charity, support organisation or government body. A listing here is not a referral.
Credentials differ by country
Therapists in the United States list a state license and, usually, an NPI number. Therapists and counsellors in the United Kingdom and Australia list registration with a professional body instead, for example the BACP or NCPS in the UK, or ACA, PACFA or AASW in Australia. Each profile shows the details on record so you can check them yourself.
Where the profiles come from
Profiles are based on information supplied by BetterHelp, an online therapy platform. Each profile shows the credentials, focus areas, approaches, experience and languages the therapist lists.
We do not employ the therapists and we do not recommend one over another. When you follow a link to BetterHelp from a profile or topic page, we will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
What this site is not
This site shares information. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, a crisis line or an emergency service.

- Compare credentials, experience, focus areas, approaches and languages.
